All I can suggest is to remember your character's personality and always consider it when writing answers, even if you decide to stretch (or break) canon for the sake of a gag. Try to think of ways in which the character you're representing is different from you, so that the responses you come up with are the character's and not your own. Spend a little time considering things like hobbies that he or she might have, given their personality. Someone prissy and eccentric like Galdino might be into collecting tea sets or faience, as an example.

The things that I have Moria doing or expressing an interest in on my blog are mostly based on his stylings and what they suggest about him- I've suggested that he is a tailor with an interest in fashion and toys because of his foppish clothing, the unhealthy number of dolls/dollhouses/creepy junk in his bedroom, and the doll = puppet = zombie theme of Thriller Bark. I like showing him with moon or bat designs, since they're what he seems to associate himself with. It's possible that everyone who looks at my blog doesn't notice little things like his favorite flower being sacred datura (also called moonflower, it's a plant that is supposedly used in some zombie-making poisons), but details like that make it even more fun for me as a fan.
